Salvation

The Kinsman Redeemer is stated in the book as Leviticus as a law to free one from the bondage of slavery:

Now if the means of a stranger or of a sojourner with you becomes sufficient, and a countryman of yours becomes so poor with regard to him as to sell himself to a stranger who is sojourning with you, or to the descendants of a stranger’s family, 48 then he shall have redemption right after he has been sold. One of his brothers may redeem him, 49 or his uncle, or his uncle’s son, may redeem him, or one of his blood relatives from his family may redeem him; or if he prospers, he may redeem himself." (Leviticus 25:47-49).

In our Introduction to the Bible, we simplify this:

The rule is this:

If you became so poor that you had to sell
yourself into slavery (like the slavery you
sold yourself into by sinning), the only way
you can get out of bondage is:

1) Person must be of kin.

2) Person must have the price.

3) Person must pay the price.

What does this have to do with you?

When Eve ate from the Tree of Knowledge disobeying God, she sinned. Because she was of Adam, Adam also sinned. Because all mankind descends from Adam, we all carry that sin. We are all now entwined into the slavery of sin because of this original act.

WE MUST BE BOUGHT FROM THE SLAVERY OF OUR SIN TO BE FREE!

So far, we have only used this law simply as the reason why Jesus' death forgives our sin. Just to review:

1. God came to earth in a tent of flesh called Jesus, born by a woman. That makes him man, which makes him kin.

2. The price for death is the opposite: life. We sinned, therefore we must die. Unless someone lives a perfect life according to the law. That person is Jesus.

3. Jesus died on the cross, giving up his perfect life to save us in our imperfection. He paid the price.

THIS IS NOT THE ONLY POINT!
JUST BECAUSE YOUR SIN IS FORGIVEN DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE SAVED!

Jesus became kin to man. Great.
God has now completely removed your sin. Fantastic.
THIS ALONE DOES NOT MAKE YOU SAVED.

YOU HAVE TO ALSO BECOME KIN TO JESUS!

Why?

When Jesus came to earth, he was 100% God and 100% man.

This is a very unique and new creation.

In order to become kin to such a unique and new creation, you must become a unique and new creation.

How does one become new?

1. Accept that Christ not only was the Kinsman Redeemer, but he also died by crucifixion AND resurrected three days later.
2. Likewise die to the flesh and become resurrected (Born Again).

Only then will the Holy Spirit be able to live within you. You have become a new creation, detaching your soul from the sinful flesh and allowing it to then attach to the Spirit.

Only then will you be saved.

  • The same Leviticus that says I can't eat sea creatures that have no sclaes or fins? The same Leviticus that says that I can't eat anything that walks on the ground? Isn't there some sort of "new covenant"? Enlighten me.

  • Sure i will enlighten you if you're able to remove the blinders and see the truth.

    2 Corintians 3:14,15
14 But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ. 15 But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart.

But before i go there did you even read the blog post or did you just see the verse and think in your Jewish little head, "ahha, a Christian trying to quote the Old Testament, let see if i can trap them!" Well sorry friend you obviously missed the point of the blog and trying to take a Jewish stance will only prove Chritianity to be true because all of the Old Testament (including Leviticus) foreshadows Jesus as Messiah and Saviour.

Let me start by asking you a question. When you create a will for yourself when does it go into effect? After you die, of course. And if you make more than one, which one takes effect? The last will you made before you died.

So if Jesus is God in human flesh when He died He not only fulfilled the Old Testament law on our behalf, He also ushered in a New Covenant (or will/testament)by His blood. Not in the blood of bulls and goats but this time with His own blood. This New Covenant you were talking about is the last one God "wrote" before He (Jesus)died. The same New Covenant talked about by the prophets: Jeremiah 31:31-33, Ezekial 16:60, Malachi 3:1.

    Matthew 26:27-29
27 Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. 28 For this is My blood of the new[a] covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. 29 But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father’s kingdom.”

    Hebrews 9:16-28
16 For where there is a testament, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. 17 For a testament is in force after men are dead, since it has no power at all while the testator lives. 18 Therefore not even the first covenant was dedicated without blood. 19 For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and goats, with water, scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people, 20 saying, “This is the blood of the covenant which God has commanded you.” 21 Then likewise he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle and all the vessels of the ministry. 22 And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission.23 Therefore it was necessary that the copies of the things in the heavens should be purified with these, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. 24 For Christ has not entered the holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us; 25 not that He should offer Himself often, as the high priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood of another— 26 He then would have had to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now, once at the end of the ages, He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. 27 And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, 28 so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.

So when Jesus died for us the old was done away with being fulfilled in Him and the new is set into effect.

If you would like to see more of the bigger picture and understand why Jew today are not under covenant with God but instead "widowed" by God read a paper we've already written on this, go here:

P.S. I don't know what you mean by "I can't eat anything that walks on the ground." If this was true it would be unlawful for a Levitical priest to eat the sacrifice. So please at least correctly quote Leviticus if your going to try and argue for the Old Testament.

  • the point of this story was the kinsman redeemer
jesus died for the whole world BUT YET not all go to heaven----why?
    must accept jesus as KIN
NONE OF THE 613 LAWS WILL SATISFY THAT ISSUE; BUT THE 3.16 OF JOHN--
TO THOSE WHO ARE OF KIN
NOT THAT WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!
