TRUTH about Islam (Part 3)

Technorati:

A FUNDAMENTAL AND HISTORICAL FACT IS: The Old Testament & New Testament PRECEDE the Qur'an...

QUESTION: Why does the Qur'an contain historical and factual errors?

It is written in the Qur'an that Muhammad proclaimed the Jewish Torah / Christian Old Testament (Taurat) as correct in Qur'an 5:46/47 and 43:63 .

OUR ANSWER: Based on Muhammad's own statement, the following gross errors that differ with the Torah are inexcusable.

1. The Qur'an confuses the sister of Moses (Miriam) with Mary, the mother of Jesus. In Hebrew, Miriam and Mary are the same names.

2. How many angels were talking to Mary? When the Qur'an speaks about the annunciation of the birth of Jesus to the Virgin Mary, Sura 3:42,45 speaks about (several) angels while it is only one in Sura 19:17-21.
The Christian Bible clearly indicated one angel; "In the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town in Galilee called Nazareth," Luke 1:26

3. Do you remember the evil Persian Haman who conspired to kill all the Jews during the time of Esther in the Babylonian captivity? In the Qur'an, Muhammad incorrectly taught that this wicked man Haman was the prime minister of the Egyptian Pharaoh.( Sura 28:6,28:38,40:36). Throughout the Qur'an--Nimrod and Abraham, Haman and Moses, Mary and Aaron, the tower of Babel and Pharaoh were all pictured as living and working together. Moses and the flood are also incorrectly found together. Muhammad thought these all happened at the same time.

4. What about Noah's son? According to Sura 21:76, Noah and his family is saved from the flood, and Sura 37:77 confirms that his seed survived. But Sura 11:42-43 reports that Noah's son drowns.

5. Sura 7:134-136, 7:59 say Noah's flood took place in Moses' day. Did anyone tell Moses that?

6. Sura 14:37, says Abraham lived in the valley of Mecca. The Bible says he lived in Hebron, Israel. (Genesis 13:18, 23:2, 35:27)

7. Sura 7:54, 10:3, 11:7, and 25:59 clearly state that God created "the heavens and the earth" in six days. But in 41:9-12 the detailed description of the creation procedure adds up to eight days.
8. Sura 6:74, says Abraham (called millata-Ibrahim in the Qur'an) father's name was Azar. The Bible says it was Terah (Genesis 11:27).

9. Sura 12:21ff, says the man who bought Joseph was named Aziz. The Bible says it was Potiphar.

10. Sura 5:73-75,116, Muhammad mistakenly thought the Christian Trinity was 3 gods: the Father, the Mother (Mary), and the Son (Jesus).

11. Sura 28:8-9, says it was Pharaoh's wife who adopted Moses. The Bible says it was Pharaoh's daughter.

12. Sura 20:87, 95, says the Jews made the golden calf in the wilderness at the suggestion of Samaritans. There were no Samaritans at that time.

13. The Quran says that man was created from a clot of blood..the Torah says man was created from the dust of the ground.

"Read! In the name of your Lord Who Creates
Creates man from a clot of blood
Read! And your Lord is most generous
Teaches man that which he knew not"
Quran 96:1-5

14. Here, we'll give all of the scholars of the Qur'an an easy one to answer, (?) ,
As to the origin of calamity... Is the evil in our life from:
Satan [38:41],
Ourselves [4:79],
or
Allah [4:78]?

  • So, are you telling us that you have read the Koran from cover to cover like good Christians?

Or, are you posting someone else's work without a citation?

I believe it is the second as you posted:

"15. Sura 5:73-75,116, Muhammad mistakenly thought the Christian Trinity was 3 gods: the Father, the Mother (Mary), and the Son (Jesus)."

I pulled out my old copy of the Koran (Abdullah Yusuf Ali version) and randomly chose the above statement for verification.

Suras 5:73-74 are about the Children of Israel.

Sura 5:75 does have the phrase "God is Christ the Son of Mary," but no mention of the trinity. Mary is not claimed to be God or part of the trinity.

Sura 5:76 does discuss the blasphemy of the trinity as in "What part of, There is only One God, don't you understand?"

Sura 5:116 makes no mention of the trinity or any of the three.

I understand that there are differences in numbering the suras depending on the particular translation, much like the disagreements between the three versions of the 10 commandments (jewish, Catholic, Protestant).

What is your answer when Muslims respond with similar historical inconsistencies in the Christian Bible?

    - Darius not a Mede (Dan 5:13)

    - Medes not a world power (Dan 5:28)

    - Belshazzar bot a king (Dan 5:30)

    - No Queen Esther / Mordecai known to historians / archaeologists (Esther 2)

    - Darius ruled before Xerxes, not after (Ezra 4:24)

  • Hello Timothy-

I was wondering where you were at!
You have not not commented on any of the other post till now?

Yes, I have unfortunately read the Qur'an, but had no interest to study it like the Holy Bible.

Timothy- out of 20 you are finding an inconsistency with 3 references that are obviously due to your translation? Come now, I find it hard to beleive that you are coming to the defense of the Qur'an! We were actually asking very real questions...don't jump to conclusions about us copying someone else's work...it's better then a few of the cut and paste jobs you've come up with. I am curious though...why did I strike a nerve with you about this post about the Qur'an? Also, at last count we found at least 20 major problems with Catholic doctrine...slowly we will deal with these subjects and more!
    Don't you find this exhilarating?

  • Timothy-

I will put to use some of the money that I have spent and quote from the edition of the Qur'an that you hint at.

"O People of the Book! Commit no excesses in your religion: Nor say of God aught but the truth. Christ Jesus the son of Mary was (no more than) an apostle of God, and His Word, which He bestowed on Mary, and a spirit proceeding from Him: so believe in God and His apostles. Say not "Trinity" : desist: it will be better for you: for God is one God: Glory be to Him: (far exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belong all things in the heavens and on earth. And enough is God as a Disposer of affairs." (Koran 4:171)

"They do blaspheme who say: God is one of three in a Trinity: for there is no god except One God. If they desist not from their word (of blasphemy), verily a grievous penalty will befall the blasphemers among them." (Koran 5:73)

  • Timothy-

So is that the problem you have?
That these verses negate the Trinity but I have said that Mohammad thought of the Trinity as Three Gods?

The Koran proclaims that "the Trinity of the Bible" are three Gods: "The Father, Jesus, and Mary"... as declared in the Surah 5:116, "Then God will say: Jesus son of Mary, did you ever say to mankind: "Worship me and my mother as gods besides God?"...

So, I don't know what translation you are using but mine clearly says...in BLACK AND WHITE "Then God will say: Jesus son of Mary, did you ever say to mankind: "Worship me and my mother as gods besides God?"

So, we have established the fact that not only does the Koran state the belief that the Trinity is Three God's BUT that it is wrong anyways..there is only one GOd. What would a Catholic say about this Timothy?

  • Daniel 5:13

13 So Daniel was brought before the king, and the king said to him, "Are you Daniel, one of the exiles my father the king brought from Judah? (NIV)

DARIUS NOT A MEDE FROM THIS VERSE??
    What are you talking about?

    Daniel 5:28

28 Your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians."

MEDES NOT A POWER FROM THIS VERSE???????????

Please take advantage of all of the money you have given to the Catholic Church and ask your priest to teach you about these verses...and then come back to us with the answer... or was this a bad cut and paste job?

  • Timothy-

"- Darius ruled before Xerxes, not after (Ezra 4:24)"

There is more than one ruler named Darius!

    Dont you know your history?

copy, paste, copy, paste, copy paste......

    Youre the best I've seen.

  • Timothy-

    "- Belshazzar bot a king (Dan 5:30)"

    You mean not a king?

    What are you talking about??????

All of chapter 5 calls him a king and verse 2 and 18 tell us he is a successor/descendent of Nebuchadezzar.

Who says he's not a king? Are you making up your own version of history or did you copy this from the Koran or islamic website?

  • This is an interesting thread, you all have alot of time on your hands to do all this research to prove your arguments.

Ya Allah, if we could only direct this energy toward providing education; clothing and building homes for the poor so that they can live a life with dignity.

A life where the men can look another man in they eye without contempt, and the women feel genuine love in their hearts instead of envy or admiration. And children can feel proud that they are the sons and daughters of a fine people.

But alas, it seems that it is more important to count the number of rulers named Darius... don't let me stop you, please continue...

By Blogger Abu Sahajj, at 9:51 PM

  • Yes, don't worry al-hakim...you won't stop us. Ill tell you why your post is a hypocrisy...
I won't question the motives and mostakes of Islam until:

    1) You stop murdering my brothers and sisters
    2) You stop threatening my brothers and sisters
    3) You stop advocating violence
    4) You live in peace and rise up against the real oppressors...your own sheiks who sit on billions of dollars and let your poor starve.

In the meantime, I will post about the atrocities and strive to educate the world...as well as help the poor in my own country. You on the other hand can educate your own Islamic people to learn to live in peace and renounce the violence.

  • the trouble with islam and the muslim faith is that when asked how they will get to heaven is that "the best answer"they can
give is the hope of mercy of god .
if god has another answer they dont know it .for me to follow someone who has no answer and trust them with my soul only shows
lack of knowledge of the importance of the question .
who is right "the jews or
    the muslims "---wrong question
if the meaning of life for the created to have a relationship with the creator ; then there must be another way
    JESUS
a man ; told of this way
    a god ;provided this way
