Partial birth abortion is never necessary and should never take place. In this procedure innocent babies are ruthlessly sacrificed on the altar of selfishness and convenience. And let's not forget about the women who are lied to by these doctors and suffer from extreme emotional and mental damage afterwards.


And, Justice Scalia said “the method of killing a human child – one cannot even accurately say an entirely unborn human child – proscribed by this statute is so horrible that the most clinical description of it evokes a shudder of revulsion.”
The procedure itself brought sharp reaction from the dissenters. In the words of Justice Thomas: “The physician literally sucks the fetus’ brain from the skull.” And, Justice Kennedy included this graphic depiction of the procedure in his opinion. “Witnesses to the procedure relate that the fingers and feet of the fetus are moving prior to the piercing of the skull,” wrote Justice Kennedy. “When the scissors are inserted in the back of the head, the fetus’ body, wholly outside the woman’s body and alive, reacts as though startled and goes limp.”
Those accurate descriptions about this troubling procedure, of course, have been supported by medical testimony – before Congress and before the federal courts in this latest challenge involving partial-birth abortion.
